Hey Reader,
One of the first times I really thought about psychology and how we show up was during my A-Level PE class at 16. That’s when I was introduced to a concept that’s stuck with me ever since:
We all sit somewhere on a spectrum between the need to achieve (Nach) and the need to avoid failure (NAF).
🔹 Nach – When we focus on achievement, we’re open to failure. We try new things, take risks, and listen to feedback.
🔹 NAF – When we focus on avoiding failure, we play it safe. We make cautious choices, stick to what we know, and avoid pushing ourselves.
As we head into February, take a moment to look back at January.
👉 Were your decisions about not failing—setting easy targets, playing small?
👉 Or were you aiming for real growth, even if it meant stumbling along the way?
What’s one thing you really want to go for this year? Drop me a reply, and I’ll share something that might help on the journey.

The art of setting the "Staying Connected"
Reconnecting with the why
Next week in the Jan Productivity Pod will be giving me thier 60 seconds on why thier current BHAG matters to them, so here is a challenge for you.
1️⃣ Take a moment to reflect.
2️⃣ Spend 60 seconds speaking out loud (yes, out loud!) about why this goal matters to you.
3️⃣ How does it make you feel?
4️⃣ What will achieving it bring to your life ~ emotionally, professionally, or even for your well-being?
Whether you talk to yourself, record a video, or share it with someone else, speaking your “why” helps you reconnect with the passion behind the work.
It’s a small exercise that can reignite your motivation and focus.
If you’re brave enough, I’d love to hear what you came up with send me a message.
