I want to kick off "Make a Habit May" with a quick story.
A few years back, I was teetering on the edge of burnout.
Work felt overwhelming, and my default response to "How are you?" was a half-hearted "I'm okay," followed by a list of complaints.
Eventually, I noticed people were avoiding those conversations altogether.
Then, someone named Michael Heppell came to speak at work. He challenged me to answer "Brilliant!" every time someone asked how I was doing, for 21 days.
After that, I could say whatever I wanted.
It sounded simple, maybe even a bit cheesy, but it genuinely changed my world.
That tiny shift in habit transformed my outlook and the way people interacted with me.
That’s why, this May, I want to invite you to pick one small habit to focus on.
It doesn’t have to be monumental, just something that nudges you in a positive direction. Over the next few weeks, I’ll share tips, stories, and strategies to help you make that habit stick.
Don't forget to reply and tell me what your going to change!
Pro-Habits Deep Dive - Finding the change
What no longer serves you?
Step 1: Reflect on What’s Not Working
Take a moment to identify an area of your life that feels off. Is there something that consistently frustrates you or leaves you feeling less than your best?
Step 2: Pinpoint the Change You Want
Once you’ve identified the pain point, think about a small, concrete habit that could help address it. For example, if you feel dehydrated, your new habit might be drinking a glass of water after each meal.
Step 3: Make it Specific
Define the habit in clear, actionable terms. Instead of saying “drink more water,” say “drink one glass of water after breakfast, lunch, and dinner.”
Step 4: Stack Your Habit
Integrate the new habit into an existing routine. This makes it easier to remember. For instance, if you already have a morning coffee, stack your new habit right before or after that existing behavior.
Step 5: Track Your Progress
Keep it simple by tracking your habit daily. You can use a calendar, a habit tracker app, or just a simple tick on a piece of paper.
If your habit is work-related, be sure to check out the free guide in the section below. It’s packed with tips to help you rebuild and reinforce your work habits.
